Hi, I believe therapy needs to be individually tailored to suit your personal needs because there isn’t a one-size-fits-all way in which we struggle. To help with this I practice from an integrative therapeutic approach, drawing from Schema Therapy (parts work), EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Attachment theories.
I understand it can be daunting to see a psychologist for the first time, so for those new to therapy I like to discuss the process openly so you understand the different phases of therapy. I ensure we move at a pace that is comfortable for you, whilst also recognising a part of therapy is making note of thoughts/behaviours that might not be helping you.
I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan, however I typically work with adults (16+) and provide short and/or longer-term psychological therapy for:
My Doctorate of Clinical Psychology thesis designed a psychological treatment for vaginismus and evaluated the effectiveness of the therapy. Following on from my thesis, I have developed a particular interest in improving sexual function and satisfaction for individuals (either in a relationship/s or single), who experience pain with sex due to vaginismus (GPPPD), endometriosis or chronic pelvic pain.
Regardless of why you are coming to see me, I take a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental approach to therapy with the aim to empower your individual strengths to help you reach your goals and develop a greater understanding about yourself.
